CRESTWOOD, Ill. (April 14, 2022) – Elim Christian Services is urging its community to get ready, get set, and go to the 12th Annual Elim Eagles’ Wings 5K Run, Walk, & Roll. The race will start on Saturday, May 14, when participants will choose between the timed 5K course or the untimed short loop course (1 mile), both of which begin and end on Elim’s campus. Those who can’t participate in person can do so “virtually” on their own course.
The Elim Eagles’ Wings 5K Run, Walk, & Roll helps provide essential resources for children and adults with disabilities. Elim hopes to raise over $50,000 through this event to fund equipment, program, and facility needs for the school and adult services programs. The goal — if met — has the potential to change over 400 lives.
Elim’s mission is to equip people with disabilities to pursue their God-given potential by offering person-centered services and partnering with their communities. Elim provides educational, vocational, and therapeutic services for over 400 individuals with developmental disabilities. Participation in Elim’s 5K event directly assists in helping those with disabilities thrive.
Registered 5K participants receive a free T-shirt, and can enjoy music, refreshments, and raffle prize drawings. Wearing your favorite Chicago sports team apparel is welcomed and encouraged.
Note that while wheelchairs, strollers, and service dogs are welcome; roller blades, bikes, and non-service dogs are not permitted for the safety of Elim’s children, adults, and event participants.
