175th Street — Attempted Murder charges

An LPD press release sent on Wednesday afternoon said both victims were still in the hospital but in stable condition.

The ensuing investigation determined the shooting emerged from a domestic dispute involving Lansing resident Willie Riley. The 49-year-old was the boyfriend of one of the victims, police said.

The day after the shooting, Riley was taken into custody in Dixmoor. He was then transported to Lansing where he was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder. Additional charges are pending. Riley received a $250,000 D Bond at the Markham Courthouse.

Extended Stay — investigation ongoing

On Tuesday, April 5, officers responded to a disturbance at the Extended Stay America, located at 2520 173rd Street. Arriving at around 9 p.m., officers found a gunshot victim, who was transported to a local hospital.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries, said Lansing Police Detective Lieutenant Scott Bailey.

The Lansing Police are investigating the incident, and on Wednesday said they did not have anyone in custody.

Anyone with information about the Extended Stay shooting is encouraged to call the LPD’s non-emergency number at 708-895-7150.

The Lansing Police Department is located at 2710 170th Street.
