LANSING, Ill. (March 23, 2022) — In this week’s sports recap, TFS Badminton continues to impress, Mens Volleyball debuts, Softball wins big over Eisenhower.
TF United Mens Volleyball
March 24
Opponent: Bloom Township High School
Result: TFU’s Varsity squad won 16-25, 25-18, 25-17. The JV team beat Bloom 25-17, 25-10.
In the first match of the season, the combined TF South and TF North team won both its Varsity and JV matches.
Senior Quentin McCray of TF South had 7 kills, 2 aces, and 3 blocks. Senior Adrian Gonzales of TF North had 6 kills and 3 aces.
March 29
Opponent: Lincoln Way Central High School
Result: TFU’s Varsity squad lost 25-15, 25-21. The JV team lost 25-14, 25-1.
Coach Mark Misch said, “We are a very young and talented at the JV level. Varsity is senior heavy. Some athletes have never played in our program, let alone together, and are also extremely talented. Varsity will be competitive with more experience.”
TFS Badminton
March 26
Opponents: Libertyville, Geneva, Joliet Central, Oswego East, Oak Forest
Result: TFS took first place.
TF South’s first place finish saw them win 27 out of the team’s 30 matches.
TFS Softball
Date and opponent: March 29, Eisenhower High School
Result: TFS rolled past Eisenhower 15-0.
Sophomore Emily Dominiak threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts. Senior Mya Durr went 2-2 with a home run and two runs scored. Senior Grace Greenwald went 2-2 with a run scored. TFS scored 4 runs in the first inning and 6 in the third.
TF South is now 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play after beating Eisenhower.
