LANSING, Ill. (March 27, 2022) — March’s District 215 Board of education meeting featured updates about the new TF South nickname, students excelling in team activities, and a highlight of the Human Resources department.

TF South Updates

During the building reports, Principal Jake Gourley of TF South gave an update about the new nickname for the school. There are now two finalists based on the number of votes: students will vote between the “Red Wolves” or “The Flyers.”

TF North Principal Brian Rucinski congratulated the district on a successful grand opening of Lavish Cosmetology and Barber Studio. The studio is located on TF North’s campus.

“I know that it’s a district program, but North is very proud to host that program. It was an outstanding event and a great opportunity for our kids,” Rucinski said.

The school’s speech team had students who competed at the regional level. Four students qualified for the speech national finals. The National Speech & Debate Tournament 2022 will take place on June 12 through June 17 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Center for Academics and Technology & Center for Alternative Learning Updates

Williams also recognized two students for their athletic success. For the first time this year, students from the Center for Academics and Technology & the Center for Alternative Learning were able to participate in sports.

“Two of our DSA students have signed agreements to play sports in college,” said Williams.

One student will be on South Suburban College’s volleyball team and the other will play basketball at a junior college.
