Late-inning push gives TF South win in first softball game of the season

TFS beats De La Salle 7–4

LANSING, Ill. (March 15, 2022) – With the coming of Daylight Savings Time and the thawing of the ground comes spring sports, and one of the first to debut at TF South this season is softball.

The varsity squad’s first game was held on Monday, March 14, as the team travelled to De La Salle Institute to take on the Meteors.

Coach Dave Klupchak said TF South scored three runs in the second inning on a bases-clearing triple from Sam Popp. To seal the win, TFS scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run from Mya Durr, and hits from Emily Dominiak and Laurielle Weddle.

Dominiak was also the starting pitcher for the game, hurling a complete game with five strikeouts and only two earned runs.

According to TFS’s online sports calendar, the varsity softball team’s next game will be at Bolingbrook High School on Wednesday, March 16, starting at 4:30 p.m. The team’s first home game will be Monday, March 21, at 4:30 p.m. vs. Marian Catholic High School.
