Dora Boomstra, age 100, of South Holland, IL went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 7, 2022. Dear sister of Donald (late Carol) Boomstra. Preceded in death by her sisters Helen, Martina, Florence, and Ruth, and by her parents Daniel “Doede” and Ruth Boomstra. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Dora served as a missionary in India – Reformed Church of America for 42 years. She was called to be a missionary at Bethany Church in Roseland, IL. While studying at Moody Bible Institute, the call to serve the people of the region Tamil Nadu was made clear.
This great woman of God through her endless wisdom, great intellect, sacrificial life had guided Vellore Diocese through the darkest of paths into light.
She stood for women and girl children empowerment. She was known for her leadership abilities. She was a great visionary and a vibrant missionary, who sacrificed everything in the service of God, especially, for the well-being of girl children and women.
Miss Boomstra (“Ammayar”) was the driving force behind the formation of Vitva Ratna Villa School in Ranipet, India, through which, still, many girls are being given the opportunity to be educated.
Till her last breath, she was a channel of blessing to many, especially women and girls in need. Through her life, they have been blessed and empowered.
Visitation Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Community Church, 6341 South Park Ave, South Holland, IL.
