Lansing firefighters: Two sworn in, two promoted

LANSING, Ill. (March 6, 2022) – The Village Courtroom was filled with firefighters and their families last Tuesday night as Lansing’s Fire Chief Chad Kooyenga swore in two probationary firefighters and promoted two others.

The first to be called forward was Willie Williams, who was sworn in as a Probationary Firefighter Paramedic.

Next was Matthew Briggs, who was sworn in as a Probationary Firefighter.

Tim Kotecki was the first to be promoted, and is now a Lieutenant with LFD. His family helped pin his badge on his uniform.

The final firefighter to be recognized on Tuesday was Nick Fionda. Fionda was promoted to the position of Engineer. His wife Chelsea pinned his badge.

Village Board meetings occur on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Village Courthouse, located within the Lansing Police Department, at 2710 170th Street.
