Girls Basketball secures conference title for first time in decades

LANSING, Ill. (February 13, 2022) — It’s been since 1979 that the TF South Girls Basketball team won a conference title, coach Eric Bryce said. With the team’s win on Tuesday, that streak if officially ended.

Girls Basketball

Opponent: Reavis High School

Score: TFS beat Reavis 68-31.

TF South was led by Tariya Wright’s 17 points, as well as 12 points and 9 rebounds from Tatiana Lawson, and 10 points from Angelina Bobbitt.

Late reported scores for Tuesday, February 8

Girls Basketball

Opponent: TF North High School

Score: TFS beat TFN 61-9, according to coach Eric Bryce.

Tatiana Lawson had 12 points and 8 rebounds, Tariya Wright has 12 points, and Jaiden Thompson had 11. With the win, TF South Girls Basketball clinched its first-ever South Suburban Blue Conference Championship and first conference title since 1979.

Girls Basketball

Opponent: Lincoln-Way Central High School

Score: TFS lost to Lincoln-Way Central 55-48.

Tariya Wright had 9 points, and Jaiden Thompson and Cherish Boothe each had 8 points.

Saturday, February 12

Boys Basketball

Opponent: Lincoln-Way West High School

Score: TFS beat Reavis 45-43.

TF South was led in scoring by Vincent Payne with 18 points, Xavier Lewis with 10 points and Romello Ali with 8 points.
