TF South bowler advances to state championship

LANSING, Ill. (January 26, 2022) — For the first time in nearly a decade, the TF South Boys Bowling team advanced to the IHSA sectional tournament. After good games from Ethan Modjeski at sectionals, the junior will head to the state championship tournament this coming weekend.

Late reported scores for Saturday, January 22

Girls Basketball

Opponent: Crete-Monee High School

Score: TFS fell to Crete-Monee 40-39.

Tatiana Lawson had 6 points and 16 rebounds. Rayvan Rush had 8 points and 8 rebounds.

TFS Boys Bowling

Tournament: IHSA Sectional

Score: Ethan Modjeski finished second overall individually, and will advance to the State Championship tournament this weekend.

Coach Eric Valiska said, “Congratulations to the whole TF South Boys Bowling team on a great season. It was the first time since 2013 that the team advanced to the Sectional round. Ethan Modjeski, Dakoda Vaughn, and Jacobi Morton were also SSC All-Conference selections.”

TFS Dance Team

Tournament: IHSA Sectional

Score: TFS finished 8th out of 13 schools.

The team’s next competition is on February 5 at Villa Grove High School.

Monday, January 24

Boys Basketball

Opponent: Shepard High School

Score: TFS beat Shepard 72-40.

With Monday’s victory, TFS improves to 4-3 in conference play and 9-10 overall.

Girls Basketball

Opponent: Shepard High School

Score: TFS beat Shepard 45-44.

Jaiden Thompson led the team with 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Rayvan Rush netted 10 points and collected 9 rebounds.

Tuesday, January 25

TF United Swimming

Opponent: Oak Forest High School

Score: TFU lost to Oak Forest 47-18.

James Muth posted his career best time of 24.32 in the 50m Freestyle.

TFS Girls Bowling

Opponent: Oak Forest High School

Score: TFS varsity beat Oak Forest 1506-1425.

Coach Terri Bartlett said the team’s second game score of 804 was the best of the season. Abby Kleidon had the highest score of the day with 191, with Jenna Blank not far behind at 185. Trinity Kimmons bowled 181 in her second game.

Wednesday, January 26

Boys Basketball

Opponent: Oak Lawn High School

Score: TFS lost to Oak Lawn 48-45

With the loss, TFS has a 9-11 record overall and a 4-4 record in conference.

TFS Wrestling

Opponent: Lincoln Way Central High School

Score: TFS was blanked by Lincoln Way Central 53-0.

“LWC is tough and very sound,” said coach Mike Tisza.

“They are this week’s Athletes of the Week. The Varsity Boys’ Bowling team advanced to the IHSA Regional Bowling championship. Ethan Modjewski bowled second, overall! Awesome job, guys!” said the Athletic Department.
