LANSING, Ill. (January 13, 2021) – The Lansing Fire Department on Thursday released the photos of two suspects thought to be involved in a fire at Walmart in Lansing on Friday, January 7. The fire forced an evacuation and resulted in significant damage that has kept the store closed since the event.
The photos below were obtained by surveillance cameras at Walmart, a Lansing Fire Department press release said.
Suspects set fires in the store as a distraction to help steal electronics, Lansing Fire said.
The press release added that Highland, IN saw a retail fire and theft occur earlier this week, and that the suspects are thought to be the same people involved in the Walmart fire.
Also released was an image of a vehicle believed to be used in the Walmart theft, a Volvo XC90.
The Lansing and Highland Fire and Police Departments are working to identify the suspects as part of their investigation related to multiple counts of aggravated arson and theft. Anyone with information about the Walmart arson is urged to call Investigator Kotecki at 708-895-7400 or Detective Miklusak at 708-895-7150.
