Lansing Citizen’s Police Academy postponed due to COVID concerns

By Josh Bootsma

LANSING, Ill. (January 6, 2022) – Scheduled to start in two weeks on January 19, the Lansing Citizen’s Police Academy has been cancelled indefinitely due to “an increase in COVID-19 related illnesses and new mandates from the State of Illinois,” said a post on the Lansing Police Department’s Facebook page.

The class, which teaches interested local residents about what LPD officers do, was scheduled to run every Wednesday from January 19 through March 23.

“When a new class is scheduled, we will open registration again, with a priority given to those who have already applied,” said the LPD’s Facebook post.

The class has been cancelled in recent years due to COVID concerns.

The Lansing Police Department is located at 2710 170th Street.
