LANSING, Ill. (December 18, 2021) – Yesterday’s report from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) included 59,312 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including an increase of 316 deaths since December 10, 2021.
As of Thursday night, 3,783 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 787 patients were in the ICU, and 353 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
A total of 18,475,621 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of midnight Thursday, with 467,715 doses administered in the previous week. More than 70% of Illinois residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, and more than 63% are fully vaccinated according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
