LANSING, Ill. (December 14, 2021) – A few small tokens of generosity and thankfulness have been exchanged in Lansing in recent days as local students have given treats to crossing guards around town.

Hot chocolate, candy canes, and chocolates were gifted by four students from two families: Anthony and Charles Espitia, and Isabelle and Joseph Abbasy.

Over the last few schooldays, the children have shared their small tokens of thankfulness with crossing guards, who usher Lansing’s schoolchildren across streets and railroad tracks every day.

Kristine Espitia, mother of Anthony and Charles, said the gesture was organized by her children, with Kristine helping as needed. She said in a text message, “The crossing guards were so happy. They stand out in cold and rain! They truly deserve the praise and credit!! They are awesome!”
