South Suburban College court reporting and paralegal programs offer open houses on Dec. 2

SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (November 23, 2021) – South Suburban College (SSC) is hosting open houses to showcase its cutting-edge Court Reporting/Verbatim Technology and Paralegal/Legal Assistant Programs. Both concentrations offer a multitude of benefits that lead to prosperous careers in highly skilled, in-demand occupations.

Prospective students interested in learning about the unique career opportunities in the field of court reporting/verbatim technology may participate in the Court Reporting Open House December 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. The Court Reporting Open House will take place in-person at the Oak Forest Center in Room 5170. According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), court reporters and captioners can earn an annual salary of $80,000 and beyond. These professions offer excellent income potential and a wide-open job market with various options for remote work. Many of these professionals have the option to set their own schedule and work on a variety of projects from high-profile trials to captioning sporting events.

Prospective students interested in learning about the Paralegal/Legal Assistant Program can attend either in-person or virtually on December 2 from 6:30-7:10 p.m. Activities include a Q&A session in the Oak Forest Center Law Library and the opportunity to observe a Legal Research & Writing class. SSC provides the only American Bar Association (ABA) approved community college program in the Chicago Southland area, providing graduates a significant advantage in the workforce. Students have the opportunity to learn directly from professionals currently working as lawyers or judges. With flexibility at the forefront, daytime and evening courses are offered both in-person and online. Graduates of SSC’s program gain knowledge to work in a variety of legal environments, as well as the credentials to transfer to four-year schools and universities.
