CALUMET CITY, Ill. (November 16, 2021) – Thornton Fractional North senior flutist Jessica Williams has been selected to participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association Festival by the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA). The District 1 music festival will be held on Saturday, November 20 at Elmhurst University.

Williams is the first student to be selected for the festival from TF North since 2009. Auditions were held virtually for the honor, as students submitted recorded auditions including performances of scales and etudes.

Williams, who plays both the flute and piccolo at TF North, will join other musicians on November 20 to rehearse and perform a concert at the end of the day.

Williams plays under the direction of band director Pietro Pisello at TFN. She has been playing since seventh grade and plans to major in both music performance and psychology when she enters college next fall.

“I am so proud of Jessica for her hard work and for this fantastic accomplishment,” said TF North principal Brian Rucinski. “I am excited she will be representing our school and community at the music festival.”

TF North is located at 755 Pulaski Road in Calumet City.
