Fox Pointe prepares for holiday tree display and the return of Santa House

By Josh Bootsma

LANSING, Ill. (November 11, 2021) – Registration is open for local families and organizations who want to be a part of the forest of festivity soon to be on display at Fox Pointe. The Village of Lansing hopes its second annual tree display will draw even more tree sponsors and visitors to Fox Pointe this holiday season.

Sponsoring, decorating, viewing

Tree sponsors have until November 30 to bring their registration fee of $50 to the Lansing Municipal Center and secure their six- or seven-foot Scotch Pine tree. Participants can drop off their fee anytime Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Trees will be set up by the Village at Fox Pointe, and can be decorated from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on November 27 – December 3. The Village will provide lights for every tree, and no additional lighting is allowed. Also provided is a sign identifying the sponsor of each tree.

Starting after the Village’s tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on December 4, the trees will be on display from every day until December 23, and again from December 26 – 30. Open hours are 3 – 8 p.m. every day of the week.

Tree-lighting and Santa’s arrival

On December 4, Fox Pointe will open to the public at 5 p.m. At around 5:30, the Village will light up the trees around the pavilion and the central Village tree.

Shortly after the tree-lighting, Santa will be arriving via firetruck to greet the assembled guests.

Throughout the rest of the evening, guests can enjoy Christmas music, a photo in Santa’s Sleigh, the tree display, and the opening of the Santa House.

Santa House

Returning after last year’s hiatus, Santa will once again be hearing the requests of local children in the Village’s Santa House, located immediately north of the Fox Pointe stage.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to the public on five dates:

  • December 4, 6–8 p.m. (after tree lighting and Santa’s arrival)
  • Friday, December 10, 6–8 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 11, 12–3 p.m.
  • Friday, December 17, 6–9 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 18, 12–3 p.m.

Parents are invited to bring their cameras for photos with the Clauses. Fox Pointe staff will limit the amount of people inside the Santa House at one time in light of COVID-19 safety concerns. At this point, masks will not be required inside the Santa House.

    • Hi Eb, as with most other recent events at Fox Pointe, the holiday tree display, the tree lighting, and the Santa House are free. As mentioned in the article, the only charge is for those sponsoring a tree.
