Arlene P. Heckel, 87, of Olympia Fields, IL, originally from Broadview IL, passed away after a short illness on November 2, 2021. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. She was married to Robert for 54 years. Arlene worked at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital for 28 years in administration for the doctors and nurses. She retired in 2008. Her hobbies were collecting Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, playing BINGO, buying IL Instant Scratch Off Tickets, and taking day trips with the seniors to the local casinos. Arlene is preceded in death by her father Melvin, mother Marie, husband Robert, and son Thomas. She is survived by her daughters Lynda (Roberto) and Laura (Thomas), her grandson Matthew (Jackie), and great-grandsons James and Thomas.
Cremation will take place at Smits Funeral Home, Dyer, IN. A private Celebration of Life service will take place at The Salvation Army Cross Generations and Worship Center, Blue Island, IL, at a date and time to be determined later. Private inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
