Opponent: First round of playoffs vs. Hoffman Estates High School

Score: TFS’ season and playoff run ended at the hands of Hoffman Estates 34-26.

In a rainy and windy evening at Hoffman Estates High School, TF South and the Hoffman Estates Hawks traded blows throughout their playoff matchup. TFS drew first blood in the game with a touchdown run in the second quarter. After another running touchdown, the halftime score was 14-7 favoring TFS.

After a quick score from Hoffman Estates evening the score at 14, TFS senior star Ernest Temple intercepted a Hawks pass near midfield and returned it for a touchdown, again giving TFS the lead, 20-14.

Hoffman Estates then scored two consecutive touchdowns, aided by a TFS fumble. The score was 28-20 favoring the Hawks.

With seven minutes left in the game, TFS senior Jacob Urdiales heaved a long pass down the field that was tipped and then caught for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good, however, and TFS remained down 28-26.

After another touchdown by Hoffman Estates that put TF South down by eight points, TFS marched down the field and threw a couple of final-minute heaves to the end zone to no avail. The final score was 34-26 favoring Hoffman Estates.

Despite the loss, TF South had a good season this year, going 6-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
