George Edward FilbertGeorge Edward Filbert, age 79, of Dolton, IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Beloved husband of Joan C. Filbert, nee Williamson. Loving father of Thomas (Melissa) Filbert and Lory (William) Hlavka. Devoted grandfather of Emily (Jared) Jeffress, Billy Hlavka, Logan (Delaney) Filbert, Stephanie Hlavka, Nolan Filbert, Douglas Hlavka, and Abigail Filbert and great-grandfather of Remington, Willow, Weston, and Clayton. Dear brother of the late Charles Filbert and the late Ronald Filbert and brother-in-law of Joyce (Robert) Staecker. Dear uncle of Alicia, Sandi, Ronald Jr.,Tracy, Johnny and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Dear cousin of Kathleen (Donald) Nowak. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lillian (nee Yelk) Filbert. Mr. Filbert was a retired Technician Rep for the Xerox Company.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021, from 1 – 5 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 4 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd Street, South Holland, IL. The service at 4 p.m. will be live streamed through Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Smitsfh. In memory of Mr. Filbert, memorial donations may be given to South Suburban Humane Society or Kitties for Keeps Rescue.
