As part of The Lansing Journal’s ongoing efforts to increase sports coverage at TF South, we have asked TFS coaches to provide us with information about their matches/games. The Lansing Journal will be posting these scores and summaries multiple times per week in a “TFS Sports round-up.”

October 9
TFS Boys Cross Country
Meet: Colonel Madden Mad Dash
Result: TFS’ JV team placed third overall.
Results for the race on a warm October day are below:
Sophomore Carlos Cervantes received a medal for his ninth place finish (20:16), Rodrigo Cortez (Fr)—12th place (21:33 – Personal Record), Kenan Maxey (Fr)—15th (22:05 – PR), Rashad Peeples (Fr)—21st (23:30), Ben Gresham (Fr)—23rd (24:09), Jayden Scott (Fr)—24th (25:04), Demetrius Thomas (Fr)—25th (26:04), Carson Harris (Fr)—28th (26:24), Colin Harris (Fr)—40th (34:00 – PR).
Varsity scores were: Austin Hewes (Jr)—41st place (20:52), Michael Chancey (Jr)—44th (21:20), Adam Castellanos (Jr)—62nd (24:41), Gavin Cottrill (Jr)—63rd (28:43).
TFS boys and girls cross country will host the SSC Blue Division Conference Meet on Saturday, October 16 a Northcreek Meadow, located near the intersection of Torrence Avenue and Glenwood-Lansing Road. Races start at 9 a.m.
TFS Girls Cross Country
Meet: Colonel Madden Mad Dash
Result: TFS did not place in the top three at the event.
Varsity results: Alanis Gonzalez—47th place (25:33), Naitsa Fox—57th (30:36).
JV results: Jarena Shell—25th place (26:25), Kailyn Keys—37th (29:15), Bianca Jones—28th (30:56), Dawn Birkenfeld—29th (31:02), Adetutu Sokunbi—57th (35:53).
October 12
TF United Soccer
TF North and South have a combined soccer team, called TF United.
Opponent: Oak Forest High School
Score: TFU fell to Oak Forest 2-1.
Hector Calderon scored the lone goal for TFU, and Jesus Puerta had seven saves in the game. The team is now 6-7-1 overall with a conference record of 4-5-1.
TFS Girls Swimming
TF North and South have a combined swimming team, called TF United.
Opponent: Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School
Score: TFU was best by Bradley Bourbonnais 29-62.
TFU won the 200m medley relay during the meet, and Maddie Gann won the 100m breaststroke.
