LANSING, Ill. (October 9, 2021) – On Friday the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reported 19,244 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 209 additional deaths since reporting last Friday, October 1, 2021.

As of Thursday night, 1,653 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 412 patients were in the ICU and 209 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,650,108 cases, including 25,224 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.

Lansing

The South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association maintains a COVID dashboard aggregating data from villages throughout the south suburbs. Highlights from Lansing are listed below:

  • 7-day new cases: 86 (last week: 84)
  • Cumulative total cases to date: 4,049
  • Cumulative total of COVID-19 deaths: 20 (Previous reported total: 20)
  • Seven-day positivity rate: 2.81% (Last Friday: 4.88%)
