As part of The Lansing Journal’s ongoing efforts to increase sports coverage at TF South, we have asked TFS coaches to provide us with information about their matches/games. The Lansing Journal will be posting these scores and summaries multiple times per week in a “TFS Sports round-up.”

LANSING, Ill. (September 13, 2021) — The scores for September 11-13:
September 11
TFS Boys Cross Country
Meet: 56th Annual Reavis Rams Invitational at Reavis High School
Score: TFS varsity only had two runners. The JV squad finished 12th out of 24 teams.
On a dry and warm Saturday, TFS ran in the Reavis Rams Invitational. TFS coach Fred Seibel said, Runners had to run up a steep hill twice and the course has many right turns, so the times are slower than the times from last week at the Dust Invitational.”
Varsity runners on Saturday were Austin Hewes—68th place (21:04) and Michael Chancey—90th place (23:16). JV runners were Carlos Cervantes—55th (23:11), Rashad Peeples—65th (24:09), Rodrigo Cortez—68th (24:25), Kenan Maxey—76th (25:10), Ben Gresham—84th (26:27), and Demetrius Thomas—95th (28:07). TFS also had three runners in the open division: Carson Harris—38th (25:00), Adam Castellanos—71st (29:10), and Gavin Cottrill—75th (30:03)
The team will run at Erfert Park in Lansing on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Four teams will compete: Lemont, Tinley Park, Reavis, and TFS. Girls will race at 4:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 5:00 p.m.
September 13
TFS Girls Tennis
Opponent: Oak Lawn High School
Score: TFS lost to Oak Lawn 4-1.
Doubles team Vanessa Sanchez and Aliza Olivaria notched the only win for TFS on Monday, winning their match in two sets.
TF United Boys Soccer
TF North and South have a combined soccer team, called TF United.
Opponent: Oak Lawn High School
Score: TF United blanked Oak Lawn 1-0
Javier Cervantes scored the only goal of the night, assisted by Lexani Gaines. In goal, Jesus Puerta has six saves in the shutout. TF United is now 4-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
