LANSING, Ill. (August 25, 2021) – Lisa Vaughan paused for a moment to hold back tears while looking into her daughter’s new studio and salon on Ridge Road.
“I’m very proud. Very proud of her,” she said.
In the Tuesday morning heat, local leaders, business owners, and family members gathered around Michaela Vaughan as she cut the ribbon in front of MVP Studio and Spa, located at 3322 Ridge Road.

Vaughan is excited to bring all kinds of salon and beauty services to the remodeled interior of the building, which formerly housed Chop Shop. According to Chop Shop’s website, the business had been operating in Lansing for roughly 30 years before relocating to Indiana.
Journey to business ownership
“It’s been a long time,” Vaughan said at the ribbon-cutting, reflecting on her journey to opening her own business.
The 33-year-old started in a corporate job, but took steps toward following her true passion — becoming a skincare specialist. In addition to her prior salon experience, Vaughan attended esthetician school and graduated last year, ready to open her own business.
Now hiring
Vaughan is currently hiring individuals to provide, hair, make-up, nail, and other beauty services. Interested applicants can apply at www.indeed.com, fill out this Google Form, or visit the studio.
MVP Studio and Spa does not currently have a booking system set up yet, but will soon as more staff join Vaughan’s team.
MVP Studio and Spa is located at 3322 Ridge Road in Lansing.
