Obituary: Vera Seymour

Vera Seymour, nee Marsillo, age 92, of Lansing, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021.

She is survived by her loving children: Gerald Thomas, Robert, Richard (Susan), and Michael (Sharon). Cherished grandmother of Patrick, Mark, Mitchell, Brian, Gabriel, and Lucas. “Adoptive Grandmother” to the Hewitt children: Daniel (Kendra), Tim, Jaime (Jon) Herron. “Adoptive Great-Grandmother” to Regan, Kiera, Jimmy, Jenna, and Jessa. A favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Gerald, brother Robert, and sisters Marjorie, Josephine, Lorraine, and Elsie.

Vera was a faithful and very active member of St. Ann Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a Sacristan. She was a past President of the Ladies Club, a Lector, an eighth-grade Religious Education teacher, an integral part of the Before and After School Care program, and Stations of the Cross program. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed working over a good crossword puzzle and battling the Jeopardy contestants from her favorite chair. She cherished and loved her St. Ann family and would jump at the chance to help with any fundraising efforts the parish or school needed. We will all miss the “life of the party” Vera.

Visitation for Vera will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd, Lansing, IL. Funeral services for Vera will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, with closing prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, then proceeding to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Vera will be laid to rest at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois.
