Arlan D. Menninga, age 85, of Tinley Park, IL, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021, after a full and active life of service to his family, country, and God. As a pastor and chaplain, he served the Lord in a number of churches and retirement communities as well as in the U. S. Air Force where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was the loving husband of Joann M. Menninga who preceded him in death. Devoted father of Laura (Arie) Van Proyen, Mark (Nadine) Menninga, Judy Santana, and Alisa (Mark) Bonnema. Proud grandfather of Sarah (Brian) Peterman, Marie Menninga, Elizabeth (Devon Inman) Menninga, Olivia (Kyle) Reynhout, Alexis (Rick Bushey) Bonnema, and Cole Bonnema. Great-grandfather of Bennett and Delaney. Dear brother of Clarence (Irene) Menninga, Alvin (Leanne) Menninga, Gysbert (Sylvia) Menninga, Larry (Mary Jo) Menninga, and Phyllis (Reinier) Klapwyk. He was preceded in death by his parents Gysbert and Ethel, and by siblings Setrith (Jean) Menninga, Kathryn (Nicholas) Braafhart, Elizabeth (Gerald) Van Dusseldorp, Bernie (Grace) Menninga, and Arlene Menninga.
Visitation Thursday, August 19, 2021, 3 – 7 p.m. at Faith Christian Reformed Church, 8383 W. 171st Street, Tinley Park, IL. Funeral service Friday, August 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the church with services conducted by Rev. Chris Pedersen. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.
