LANSING, Ill. (June 29, 2021) – In the face of a severe national blood shortage, as reported by ABC this month, the American Legion will host a Blood Drive on Saturday, July 10. Potential blood donors can visit the event link for more details:
Versiti Blood Center will be taking the donations. Donors can pre-register directly with Versiti and reserve a scheduled spot:

Redcrossblood.org reports that every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets, yet less than 38 percent of the population is eligible to donate. The supply is even lower than usual because blood drives and other donation events were cancelled during the pandemic year.
One donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
