LANSING, Ill. (June 22, 2021) – The fifth and final seat on the Lan-Oak Park District Board was filled Monday night as Gina Aguilar took the oath of office during the park district’s board meeting.
Aguilar, along with her family, was present for the public meeting as the board of four commissioners officially voted to elect their fifth member. Aguilar said she was excited for the opportunity to serve on the board.
The new commissioner fills the seat formerly held by Jim Long, who was elected to the District 158 Board of Education during the April 6, 2021, election. In May, new commissioners Christopher Gales and Lolly Lewis were installed, replacing former commissioners Micaela Smith and Karen Adams, respectively.
Members of the board serve without compensation and share a number of duties. These duties include formulating and approving policies to guide the planning, operations, activities, improvements, and maintenance of the park district’s parks and recreation programs, facilities, and services.
