information provided by Smits Funeral Home

Laura L. KellyLaura L. Kelly, nee Meyer, age 61, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Thornton, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, May 17, 2021. Beloved wife of Robert Kelly. Loving mother of Brett and Brendan Kelly. Dear sister of Ruth Reed, Jeanne (Norris) Cain, and Penny (Kevin) Leoni. “Wonder Woman” (Wowo) to several nieces and nephews. Devoted companion and caregiver to their family dog Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents William and Marjorie Meyer.

Laura was a lighthearted and joyful woman who never missed an opportunity to laugh. She will be remembered as “Coach Kelly” by many for her years of coaching soccer for both of her sons and their teammates in the Dyer Kickers Soccer Club. She was a diehard fan of both the TV show Survivor and her favorite musician(s) Bon Jovi. Laura loved to catch all of the popular musicals at downtown shows, as well as beam with pride to see her sons perform at all of their jazz concerts. Laura was an “avid crafter” and she also enjoyed reading, board games, card games, traveling with family, and White Sox games (she especially loved the Churros). She most enjoyed her calling as a beloved aunt, great-aunt, sister, best friend, and proud mother, for which she will be deeply missed.
