LANSING, Ill. (February 17, 2021) – With feedback from survey respondents, live testing by selected event organizers, and tweaking by tech support, The Lansing Journal has updated the Local Events feature added to our website earlier this month. The Events page is now accessible from the Local Info tab of our menu bar on every page.
The page automatically pulls information from Eventbrite and Ticketmaster. Local organizations who use those services to create and share events will not need to take any extra steps to have their listings included on our events page.
Organizations who are promoting their events in other ways do not have to be left out of the listings. Churches, schools, and other community organizations with events to promote can choose one of two ways to provide information to The Lansing Journal:
As we receive your information we can add it to the events page manually.
The Lansing Journal is requesting $25 for manual addition of event details. That price not only helps support this community newspaper, it also provides these benefits to local organizations:
- We will format the information you provide so it appears correctly on the Local Events page
- We will designate your listing as a Featured event, so it appears before the automatically aggregated listings
- We’ll upload a photo or graphic to draw attention to your listing
- We will publish a “Local Events Update” to notify our 3,500+ subscribers that a new event has been added
As local organizations begin planning and posting spring and summer events, The Lansing Journal’s Local Events page can serve as a centralized, searchable directory of information. The page benefits local residents who are looking for things to do. And it benefits local organizations who want to promote their events to a wider audience.
Event listings can be filtered by category and date. Lansing events are given priority, but the list includes published events throughout Chicagoland and northwest Indiana. Click the link below to view events in our area, and bookmark it to stay up-to-date on local happenings:
