Case positivity and test positivity rate are both relevant and offer insight into the bigger COVID-19 picture. Case positivity helps us understand whether changes in the number of confirmed cases is due to more testing or due to more infections. Test positivity accounts for repeated testing and helps us understand how the virus is spreading in the population over time.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from February 11–17, 2021, is 2.7%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from February 11–17, 2021, is 3.3%.

Vaccines

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports that weather continues to cause vaccine delivery delays from the federal government. IDPH is in contact with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal agencies to understand the logistical challenges and if there is anything Illinois can do to expedite getting vaccine. A total of 2,106,800 vaccine doses have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 445,200 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities.
