Illinois

The graphs below are created by HiGeorge and are “live,” so they are continually updated as new data is released from official sources. For that reason, the numbers within a graph might not match the number in the text of this post, depending on when the post is being viewed.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported 1,747 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 35 additional deaths.

Cases

Beginning January 22, IDPH has adjusted reporting probable cases. Probable deaths are now being included in the total case count. Confirmed deaths and probable deaths will still be reported separately.

Deaths

Testing

Case positivity and test positivity rate are both relevant and offer insight into the bigger COVID-19 picture. Case positivity helps us understand whether changes in the number of confirmed cases is due to more testing or due to more infections. Test positivity accounts for repeated testing and helps us understand how the virus is spreading in the population over time.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from February 1–7, 2021, is 3.3%. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from February 1–7, 2021, is 4.1%.
