LANSING, Ill. (January 28, 2021) – During the Village Board meeting on January 19, Deputy Chief Rick Slough was recognized as the Interim Chief of Police for the Lansing Police Department.
The announcement comes after Chief Dennis Murrin retired on January 13 after 30 full-time years with LPD. Slough began his duties as Interim Chief on January 14.
Slough was hired in 1996 by the Lansing Police Department. Slough became a detective in 1999 and was later promoted to Sergeant in 2006 and Lieutenant in 2008. Slough continued to work his way up through the LPD ranks before becoming Deputy Chief in 2016.
“Interim Chief Slough will remain in this position until a new Police Chief is chosen,” Mayor Patty Eidam said.
“After 25 years here, this place has been great to me, so to step up and help during this transition period is my pleasure,” Slough said.
The Lansing Police Department is located at 2710 170th Street.
