Drive-thru self-tests available without appointment

LANSING, Ill. (December 28, 2020) – COVID testing is now available in the parking lot of Boost Mobile from a drive-thru window of the neighboring business We Fix Phones. The tests are from O’Hare Clinical Lab Services, and test results are returned in up to 72 hours, according to the company’s website.
The testing process is fairly straightforward, and can be completed in roughly 20 minutes if there is no line to wait for a test.
Individuals wanting a COVID-19 test can drive their vehicles to the east side of 2416 176th Street, which houses We Fix Phones and Gamma VR Virtual Reality. Traffic cones and signs direct drivers where to go. No appointment is needed.

At the drive-thru window, a representative will take the driver’s information and give him or her a test and an information and disclaimer form, which must be submitted along with the test. A nasal swab and vial are included in the testing kit, which, once taken, should be placed in a bin near the facility. The test is free.
According to O’Hare Clinical Lab Services, test results will be communicated within 72 hours. It is not clear if the 72 hours timeline starts when the test is dropped in the bin at the Boost Mobile parking lot, or if the timeline starts when O’Hare Clinical Lab Services receives the test. According to Boost Mobile owner Aamir Khan, individuals with a positive test result will receive a phone call while negative testers will receive an email and text.
Khan said he wanted to start the COVID testing facility to give back to the Lansing community. “We have been in business in Lansing for over 20 years and wanted to get our community the opportunity to get tested,” he said.
Drive-thru testing is available from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. every day except Sunday, when testing is available from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. We Fix Phones is located at 2416 176th Street, Lansing, IL.
