Bloom Township Food Pantry to raise funds for holiday baskets

information provided by Bloom Township

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (September 15, 2020) – Distribution of holiday food baskets has been an annual tradition at the Bloom Township Food Pantry for the past five years. This year Bloom Township residents can call the pantry beginning in October and request a holiday basket ticket, which can be redeemed in December. The baskets are designed to be a full meal, packed with a choice of ham or turkey along with side dishes and dessert.

Open twice a week for distribution, the Bloom Township Food Pantry has seen their monthly distribution triple this year, and they anticipate a similar increase in requests for holiday baskets.

In an effort to ensure demand will be met, the pantry launched a Holiday Basket Drive. Donations can be made via Facebook (Bloom Township Food Pantry Inc ā€“ Holiday Basket Drive) or sent to Bloom Township headquarters, 425 S. Halsted Street, Chicago Heights.

ā€œEveryone deserves to enjoy a full holiday meal to end the year, especially after the year weā€™ve had,” said Pantry Director of Operations Leticia Johnson. “We do our best to supply all the trimmings.ā€
