LANSING, Ill. (June 1, 2020) – When the manager of the Torrence Avenue Walgreens went back into his store after shutting it down on Sunday afternoon, he was surprised at how little damage had been done to most of the store. “They went straight to the pharmacy,” he said in a conversation Monday morning. “That’s all they were interested in.”
Though the damage and looting was done on the same afternoon as the looting at River Oaks Mall in Calumet City, and The Lansing Journal’s Sunday night article included Walgreens in the list of businesses impacted by looters, the store manager believes a different group was responsible. No other merchandise was taken, only prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals.
The Torrence Avenue Walgreens will be closed for “a couple days” while evidence is collected, the mess is cleaned up, and prescriptions are refilled.
Why is there no local news reporting via channel 99 for Lansing? .Other towns such as Dolton that have fewer resource funds have elected officials keeping their residents informed.That is the purpose of this station.
