by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (May 8, 2020) – The funeral service for Ralph J. Schauer, former Fire Chief of Lansing, was held at Schroeder Lauer Funeral Home on Thursday, May 7. Though Schauer served in the Lansing Fire Department for four decades, the service was private because of COVID-19 concerns.

Still, members of the Lansing Fire Department and Lansing Police Department, along with representatives from the fire departments of surrounding communities, turned out to publicly honor Schauer while maintaining social distance.
