Lansing woman to turn 97 Saturday, April 18

Family plans drive-by greetings and invites community

Lucille Biondi
LANSING, Ill. (April 17, 2020) – Lucille Biondi has lived in the same home at the northwest corner of 179th Street and Commercial Avenue since it was built in 1946. Her daughter, Gloria, is planning to assemble a parade of cars to drive by the house on Saturday at 1:00pm to help celebrate Biondi’s 97th birthday.

“In case anyone is driving around Saturday at 1:00pm, drive by 17856 Commercial, honk, and yell ‘Happy Birthday’ to my mom!” she said.

Biondi is known in the neighborhood for her green thumb, lush lawn, and array of flowers that bloom in her yard throughout the season—and also for her love of polka music, which can often be heard playing loudly in her garage.

Since she won’t be able to celebrate with a large gathering due to the COVID-19 outbreak, some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren will be joining the parade and serenading her from the yard.
