MATTESON, Ill. (April 3, 2020) – On April 1, Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a second telephone conference call with more than 50 local small business owners and leaders. On the call, she was joined by Mark Ferguson, Illinois Deputy Assistant Director at the SBA, and Melinda Kelly, executive director of the Chatham Business Association.

“The purpose of the call was to connect with small businesses in the Second District and ensure that they know about available SBA resources and how to access them,” said Congresswoman Kelly. “I deeply appreciate Mark and Melinda for joining me and answering technical questions. There were many questions regarding loan eligibility requirements, fund use stipulations, and repayment provisions. My office will continue to be a resource for our community during this challenging time.”

During the call, Congresswoman Kelly shared information about the third COVID-19 response legislation and available SBA loans and grants, and she solicited ideas for additional response measures that Congress should consider. Additionally, participants discussed how to help connect other businesses with this information and available resources.

This call was the third in a series of COVID-19 response conference calls hosted by Congresswoman Kelly and the second for small business owners and leaders. On April 3, Congresswoman Kelly will host another call with local mayors, and she will host a fifth call with faith leaders on Tuesday, April 7.
