Staff institute day scheduled for Monday, March 16

LANSING, Ill. (March 13, 2020) – Friday evening, Superintendent Nathan Schilling posted the following announcement for District 158 families:

Today, Governor Pritzker announced the mandatory closure of all Illinois schools from Tuesday, March 17 through Monday, March 30 due to the growing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Lansing School District 158 will not be in session during this time.

We are tentatively planning to resume school on Tuesday, March 31.

It is our intention to have an administrator at each school building during the closure for students who are experiencing homelessness or whose parents cannot be home. We hope to be able to provide meal options to students during this time and will communicate more information about this in the near future.

District 158 will have no school for students on Monday, March 16. We will be taking a full-day staff institute in order to plan educational activities for our students during the school closure. More information about this will be shared soon.

Please note that our buildings will be open between 8:00am and 4:00pm on Monday, March 16, so students who need to drop by to pick up textbooks, personal items, etc. will be able to do so.

We appreciate your flexibility as District 158 works in cooperation with our federal, state, and local authorities to keep our children safe while still providing them with necessary services. You are welcome to contact the principal of your child’s school with any immediate questions. Additional information will be forthcoming.

District 158 includes Lester Crawl Primary Center, Coolidge Elementary School, Reavis Elementary School, Oak Glen Elementary School, and Memorial Junior High School.

  1. Hi, could you please add Lester Crawl School to the end of this article with the list of 158 schools? You listed all other 158 schools but not Lester Crawl. We are also part of 158 and our building is attached to the Administration center that you have pictured here.
