Heritage boys basketball falls in state tournament’s first round

LANSING, Ill. (February 15, 2020) – The Heritage Middle School 8th Grade boys basketball team lost to Teutopolis Jr. High today in the first round of the 3-A State Championship tournament. Teutopolis pushed to a decisive 35-16 victory over the Nationals, who were only two wins away from playing in the championship game on Feb. 20. Heritage’s final season record is 18-4.

Heritage defeated Wentworth Jr. High (Calumet City) in its regional game and Frances Xavier Warde (Chicago) in its sectional game to make it to the state competition.

The 8th Grade 3-A State Championship game will pit South Holland’s McKinley Jr. High against Taylor Ridge’s Rockridge Jr. High. The game will be played at 7:30pm on Thursday, Feb. 20 at Unity Jr. High in Tolono, IL.

Heritage Middle School is located at 19250 Burnham Avenue in Lansing.
