Gov. Pritzker ends 2019 with clemency action

information provided by the Office of the Governor

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (January 2, 2020) – On December 31, 2019, Governor JB Pritzker granted 20 clemency petitions, in the largest group of petitions addressed since taking office.

In addition, Pritzker announced pardons that will expunge 11,017 misdemeanor convictions for cannabis offenses involving less than 30 grams.

Earlier this year Pritzker pardoned four individuals—including Miguel Perez, an Army veteran who was deported under President Trump’s immigration policies but who has since become a U.S. citizen—and commuted the sentences of three individuals who were facing serious and incurable medical conditions.
