BEDFORD PARK, Ill. (November 8, 2019) — On Monday, November 11, 2019, the U.S. Postal Service will observe Veterans Day, a federal holiday. There will be no mail delivery; however, a select number of Central Illinois Post Offices will be open for full retail lobby service, including passport applications.

Customers are encouraged to drop their mail in blue street collection boxes, so they can be processed early the next day.

“We want to advise anyone with stamped or metered mail ready for delivery to drop this mail into a blue collection box instead of waiting to do so the following day,” says Central Illinois District Manager Tangela Bush. “This also applies to our business customers, many of whom will still be open during the holiday. The earlier in the day we receive the mail, the sooner we can send it on its way to its destination, especially as we move into the busy holiday season.”

The following Post Offices will be open on Monday, November 11, from 10:00am–2:00pm:

  • Aurora (525 Broadway)
  • Joliet (2000 McDonough)
  • Schaumburg (450 W. Schaumburg Road)
  • Algonquin (801 W. Algonquin Road)
  • St. Charles (2600 Oak Street)
  • Tinley Park (7230 171 Street)
  • Orland Park (9500 W. 144th Place)
  • Elmhurst (154 W. Park Avenue)
  • Glen Ellyn (757 Du Page Boulevard)
  • Woodridge (2 Plaza Drive)

All Post Offices will reopen on Tuesday, November 12, with full mail delivery and retail service.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
