Team Phenomenal

Thoughtful comments submitted by Elvis Slaughter

Since joining our great Thornton Fractional Township High School District 215 one year ago, Dr. Teresa Lance and her phenomenal team have raised the bar by adding:

  • More AP courses
  • An early warning system to provide early and frequent intervention for students
  • Restorative Justice Practices
  • Naviance
  • Tyler systems
  • EQUITY215
  • One Book One District

The school district is also now ALICE-trained as part of a response plan to an active school threat.

And the students are provided high-quality effective instruction with embedded instructional absolutes. The graduation and attendance rates continue high, while suspension and expulsion rates decline.

Wow! Dr. Lance and her team did this in one year. What a phenomenal job!

Dr. Lance’s lasting impact on the lives of so many over the years has been rewarding, while sowing seeds of goodness, kindness, and compassion. Whenever you see her, she is smiling, polite, and rolling up her sleeves to give a hand. Her community volunteerism must also be applauded.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Superintendent Dr. Teresa A. Lance and our outstanding school board, administrators, teachers, and support staff. You all deserve a standing ovation for being part of a phenomenal team.

Team Phenomenal’s major goals and objectives have centered on the success of all students, regardless of their learning ability, behavior, background, race, or sexuality, while trying to provide all staff a desirable and quality environment.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.” (Dr. Martin Luther King)

Sincerely,
Elvis Slaughter
