LANSING, Ill. (September 23, 2019) – Thornton Township will co-host its fourth annual Pink Out game at 7:00pm on Friday, October 11. The event will take place at the homecoming football game between Oak Forest and Thornton Fractional North High School. The TF South Pink Out game took place on September 27.
The Pink Out game features free giveaways for those who attend, and they will have an opportunity to take photos holding encouraging breast cancer awareness messages to post on their social media.
“We definitely want to continue to bring awareness about breast cancer,” said Ernst Lamothe Jr., public relations manager for Thornton Township. “We are excited to be teaming up with District #215 and TF North. We understand that breast cancer is an important issue and we want to keep it in the forefront.”
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins on October 1 and ends on October 31. It is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Through visibility events, people are encouraged to spread the word about mammograms and early detection.
Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. Most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early. A mammogram—the screening test for breast cancer—can help find breast cancer early, when it’s easier to treat.
