MIDLOTHIAN, Ill. (July 8, 2019) – The World Wiffle® Ball Championship will be returning to Midlothian for its 40th tournament on July 20 and 21.

The tournament originated in Mishawaka, Indiana, in 1980, and it called Skokie, Illinois, home for several years before finally settling in the Chicago Southland. The game, which has a large following in the Southland area, is played with plastic bats and Wiffle® balls on miniature fields.

Registrations for this year’s series currently include 58 teams from 12 states. Teams consist of five players and can be made up of players of all ages. Each participating team is guaranteed to play in four round-robin games on Saturday with the opportunity to qualify for the single-elimination tournament on Sunday. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights.

The tournament will take place July 20–21 at Midlothian’s Memorial Park, a sports complex that includes 30 Wiffle® Ball fields.

Midlothian’s Memorial Park is located at 3250 145th Street in Midlothian, Illinois.
