Lansing’s Frank Schuster welcomed home

His day with Honor Flight Chicago ends with a hero’s escort home

LANSING, Ill. (June 9, 2019) – Whenever a Lansing resident is on Honor Flight Chicago, the American Legion Riders from Edward Schultz Chapter 697 volunteer to escort that veteran home. The June 5, 2019, flight included Mr. Schuster, a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

The Lansing community had been invited to join the Legion Riders in welcoming Mr. Schuster home to Lansing. Instructions were to gather at Sunrise Health Foods (17650 Torrence Avenue) around 9:30pm on Wednesday, and wait to receive word that the guest of honor was on his way.

Even though the flight landed on time, there were other delays, so Mr. Schuster didn’t arrive in Lansing until 11:00pm. Still, a small crowd was there to welcome him and express their thanks for his service:
