Auxiliary parking lot to be created north of Fox Pointe

by Melanie Jongsma

LANSING, Ill. (May 16, 2019) – Work has already been done in the area just north of the Santa House to create additional parking for visitors to Fox Pointe. The quonset hut that had been used for storage was removed last year, and at the May 7 Village Board meeting, Trustees voted to advertise for bids on paving and curbing the area.

Jeff Pintar, who serves as Village Engineer, explained that the new lot will consist of 29 parking spaces, including 3 handicapped spaces. This will be a public parking lot, curbed all the way around, and tied in to the existing underground stormwater detention system. Landscaped areas will include natural plantings that will help capture and filter stormwater. Lights will be installed, so the lot will be lit at night.

The next Village Board meeting is scheduled for May 21, and Trustees will vote to put this project out for bid.

The public is welcome to attend all Village Board meetings, which are typically scheduled on the first and third Tuesdays of every month, at 7:00pm. Meetings take place at the Municipal Court Complex (Lansing Police Department), 2710 170th Street.
