HOMEWOOD, Ill. (April 24, 2019) – This year, NAACP Illinois State Conference President Teresa Haley is the Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch Annual Freedom Fund Dinner’s keynote speaker. The Branch, which also celebrates its 40th anniversary, will host this event on Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 4:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Oaks Banquet Hall, 106 N. Main St., Glenwood, Illinois. Also honored will be outstanding community members and leaders Attorney Chief Counsel Aneel L. Chablani of the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights and School District 215 board member Sheryl Black. Lady Sax, a genius with the saxophone, will entertain the guests.
The NAACP Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch is a catalyst in promoting improvements and increasing opportunities for all people. The Branch received its NAACP charter on May 17, 1979. Since its inception, it has focused on bettering its community and on providing scholarships to youth. The Branch needs support to continue this important work. This is the year’s most important fundraiser, as proceeds allow the branch to continue to advocate for civil rights in the community.
Special sponsorship packages have been created this year to allow guests to support this cause. Donations are $50 per person. Guests can also support the NAACP’s mission by becoming a Freedom Sponsor or promoting a business or interest by purchasing an ad in the Program Ad Book. Please respond by May 11, 2019. The NAACP Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch (NAACP-CFSSB) is a unit of the NAACP, the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. Receiving its charter in May of 1979, the NAACP-CFSSB has focused on fighting for civil rights and social justice in areas that include economics, environment, education, government, health, and justice in the South Suburban communities.
