SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (April 24, 2019) – On April 11, South Suburban College (SSC) student Babatunde Adamson, of Hazel Crest, was sworn in by Marty Lareau, SSC Vice President and Board Secretary, for his first term as the new Student Trustee at the college’s April Board Meeting.

“Welcome, Student Trustee Adamson,” said Board Chairman Frank M. Zuccarelli, a 40-year veteran of the Illinois Community College Trustee’s Association (ICCTA). “We look forward to getting to know you and helping you learn about the educational process and board governance. Your participation and input on behalf of SSC students will be very important to us.”

Adamson, 21, moved to the United States from Nigeria a little more than two years ago with his father and sister. He began pursuing his college education at SSC in the Spring 2017 semester. His sister currently attends the University of Illinois–Chicago.

“I have had a great experience at South Suburban; the college faculty and support services have really provided me with a good foundation for success,” said Adamson.

Adamson is pursuing his Political Science degree at SSC and one day hopes to follow in his mother’s footsteps as a foreign services officer.

“I’m very excited to serve on the SSC Board of Trustees,” added Adamson. “I wanted to get involved and become a voice for the students. I hope and do as much as I can for them and that this opportunity will help me be the best I can be.”

South Suburban College is located at 15800 South State Street in South Holland, Illinois.
