RIVERDALE, Ill. (March 27, 2019) – Thornton Township families are invited to participate in an agriculture-themed Family Hour on Saturday, April 6. The event will be hosted at the Township’s 14323 S. Halsted location in Riverdale, Illinois, from 10:00–11:00am.

State Representative Thaddeus Jones and the Cook County Farm Bureau are sponsoring the event, which is free to families who register with India at Thornton Township: 708-596-6040, x2015. In addition, the first 30 people to register get a free blue tote bag.

Families will work together in a friendly competition to unlock clues and help a farmer get local produce from farm to market. Agricultural Bingo will give families another chance to increase their agricultural vocabulary and earn prizes while having fun together.

For families who are interested in the Summer STEM Camp, Thornton Township will offer a pre-registration opportunity following the Family Hour. Pre-registration is available only to Family Hour participants. Interested families should bring:

  • A utility bill with Township address
  • A valid state ID with Township address
  • Each student’s most recent report card and progress report

STEM Camp is from June 10 to August 1.
